Activision has made many beloved licensed games over the years, most of which have been lost to time. With Microsoft now set to acquire Activision this year, there is some hope that we'll see some classic games return. Hasbro seems to be particularly keen to bring back Activision's old Transformers games.

Due to licenses expiring, Activision's old Transformers games like Fall of Cybertron, Rise of the Dark Spark, War for Cybertron and Transformers: Devastation are all unavailable to purchase and aren't playable on the latest consoles through backwards compatibility. In a recent interview, Hasbro expressed a desire to see those games return in some form if the Microsoft-Activision deal goes through.

Speaking with Transformers World in an interview at SDCC, a Hasbro spokesperson said that with the deal now moving forward, they hope that Xbox will “go through all of the archives and every hard drive” to find all of Activision's lost games, including the Transformers titles. They also note that they'd be good additions for the Game Pass library, so clearly Hasbro as the license holder is keen to make this happen, the only thing Microsoft really needs to do is call them up and hammer out the details, although they'll need to complete the acquisition of Activision first.

Phil Spencer has previously said that he would like to bring back a number of older Activision franchises after the acquisition. Aside from a myriad of old licensed games, Microsoft could also bring back franchises like Guitar Hero, Prototype and a slew of others.

Microsoft recently extended the deadline for its deal with Activision to mid October, giving the company a chance to reach an agreement with the UK's CMA, the only regulator in the world that has actually blocked the deal. Over in the US, the FTC tried to block the deal but were denied an injunction in court after a 5-day hearing. An appeal of that ruling was also denied, giving Microsoft clearance to complete the deal in the US. Right now, the UK is the only hangup stopping the deal going through after the EU approved with conditions in place to ensure cloud gaming companies get equal access to Activision and rival console makers get equal access to titles like Call of Duty.

Epic Games has managed to keep players engaged with Fortnite through a number of means, including but not limited to offering a whole host of crossover skins. The team has now teased next Season’s Battle Pass, including the fact that Optimus Prime will be unlockable.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Fortnite page teased some of the character skins that will be made available with the next Season (known as Fortnite WILDS). By far the most interesting inclusion is that of Optimus Prime.

Undoubtedly added to correlate with the new Transformers film, Optimus Prime looks to be shrunken down in order to scale with the rest of the character models – making for a slightly odd appearance, especially when standing next to other skins.

Still, the Optimus skin itself looks to be based on the new Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film – a design which has seemed to resonate with fans. So even if shrunken down Optimus is a bit weird, many fans will undoubtedly be excited by his inclusion.

It will be interesting to see what the character’s ancillary accessories end up being. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 ‘WILDS’ will begin on the 9th of June.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the skin? Are you a Transformers fan? Who is your favourite character? Let us know down below.

  • Great design.

  • Easy to follow assembly.

Cons:

  • Rattle on the armrests.
  • Lack of lumbar support.
  • Lack of head/neck support.
  • Nylon base as opposed to metal.

KitGuru says: The design of this chair is very cool and very nostalgic. It's a great showpiece to add to any gaming setup, that will definitely draw comments from anyone who sees it. It's built well for the price, with all the major structural parts feeling well made and sturdy. The armrests do rattle quite a lot however, but for me, I found it hard to get comfortable in the chair during my time with it – the lack of any lumbar and neck support is disappointing at this price point.

The UK will be testing driverless cars within the next year, starting with a small group of 20 automated cars that drive on specific routes, have a speed cap of 12 miles per hour and only carry two people. The limitations make sense as this kind of testing needs to be safe to do in public and while 12 miles per hour might be slower than just driving yourself, this project is meant for pedestrians making it a lot faster than walking.

These new cars will use sensors to avoid collisions but we don't know if it will actually dodge people, so if you get stuck on a busy walkway you might be better off getting out of your little pod and stretching your legs a bit. This first wave of cars is costing the government £1.5 million and if all goes well, we'll be seeing 100 automated cars by 2017.

Pod
Just one step closer to my own Transformer.

The video below shows a mockup of how the system will eventually work. You'll book a car through an app on your phone and then once you're in the pod there will be a screen giving you access to the Internet and other forms of entertainment.

Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “By 2050, very few – if any – new cars will be powered solely by the traditional internal combustion engines, so it is important that the UK car industry is at the cutting edge of low carbon technologies.”

If you're wondering what the first route will be then The Guardian has you covered. It reported that the first route will take you from Milton Keynes train station to a shopping centre approximately 20 minutes away.

Obviously this will come at a price, nothing cool is ever free even in the testing stages. While no exact price is set yet, there is speculation that it'll be around the £2 mark.

KitGuru Says: The way I see it, the world is either going to turn out like I Robot, The Matrix or Watch Dogs, take your pick because it's happening. However, before then at least we can enjoy not having to drive or walk anywhere.
