Patriot Memory has recently announced new memory kits resulting from its collaboration with Asus. The two companies are launching the Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming Alliance RGB DDR5 series, available in kits of two modules with up to 48GB of memory and 6600MHz speeds.

The Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming Alliance RGB DDR5 series has received certification from Asus' TUF Gaming Alliance, meaning it will match the aesthetics of other TUF products and support the Asus Aura Sync RGB software. Additionally, it has unique branding and design elements that combine Viper Gaming and TUF Gaming, including the Viper Elite 5's one-of-a-kind matte white heat shield with an RGB light bar.

The faster kits of the Viper Elite 5 TUF Gaming Alliance RGB DDR5 series offer high-performance transfer rates of up to 6600MHz (34-40-40-84 at 1.4V), capacities of 32GB (2x 16GB) and 48GB (2x 24GB), and customised overclock support for XMP 3.0. The company guarantees all modules utilise high-quality ICs selected and screened for enhanced overclocking capabilities and 100% hand-tested profiles.

Alternatively, there are 32GB (2x 16GB) and 48GB (2x 24GB) memory kits with 6000MHz (36-36-36-76 at 1.35V) for AMD (EXPO) and Intel (XMP 3.0) systems. These modules are made with the same high-quality ICs. Moreover, just like the faster kits, these have also been hand-tested to ensure the stability of the profiles.

Thermalright has joined forces with the Asus TUF gaming alliance to release its new Black Eagle tower-style CPU cooler, featuring RGB lighting effects and a single fan sporting the TUF Gaming Alliance Logo.

The new Black Eagle CPU cooler from Thermalright claims to offer high thermal performance while being designed to provide maximum compatibility, stability and durability, making the TUF Gaming Alliance more powerful with a wider range of components in the series. Thermalright Black Eagle has been subjected to rigorous tests to ensure it achieves these performance goals.

Thermalright has equipped the Black Eagle with a slimline, single tower profile for maximum compatibility with a range of pc cases and to ensure memory height isn’t a problem. The cooler includes five 6mm diameter heat pipes mounted in a nickel-plated copper thermal transfer plate, with a traditional aluminium heatsink fin stack and a TDP rating of 200W.

Overall dimensions of the Thermalright Black eagle measure 120mm x 42mm x 158mm (L x W x H) and it weighs in at 470g. The front-mounted 120mm fan is equipped with a fluid dynamic bearing and yellow blades to match the traditional Asus TUF Gaming Alliance Theme. It also features PWM speed control with a range of 600-1500 RPM that produces between 19-23 dBA noise level.

Adding a little style to a somewhat understated design, the Thermalright Black Eagle CPU cooler has a top cover featuring the Thermalright logo that is illuminated with RGB lighting. Lighting can be connected directly to RGB equipped motherboards via a standard 3-pin 5V header allowing synchronisation of lighting colours and patterns with other components in the system. Platform compatibility, price and availability are still to be confirmed.

KitGuru says: An interesting new air cooler from Thermalright that could potentially offer some excellent cooling results. A 200W TDP rating from a compact design sounds quite impressive. What do you guys think of the new TUF Black Eagle from Thermalright?

TUF Gaming Alliance is a collaboration between ASUS and major PC-component manufacturers with a range of compliant parts – from PC cases and power supplies to CPU coolers and RAM. In this review we take a look at one of Asus's own cases in the line up – the GT501. With space for up to EATX motherboards, plenty of cooling and features like a tempered glass window and RGB fans, it seems to tick plenty of boxes. The industrial style, protective coating and strong carry handles all give this case its TUF name and make it stand out from the crowd. But do the features on offer make it worth the £145 asking price?

 • Coolermaster Masterwatt 750 TUF edition PSU

Cooling performance:

Idle temperatures are about 10C to 15C above ambient, with our figures showing 30C for the CPU and 35C for the GPU. This is pretty much as expected and is exactly the same idle temperature I see regularly with my case reviews.

To test how hot the components got under load I kept an eye on the temperatures while gaming. The PC is then stress tested using AIDA 64 and the UNIGINE Heaven benchmark for 10 minutes, the temperatures maxed out at 80C for the CPU and for the 70C for the GPU.

The temperatures in general are pretty good with this case. The GPU stays at a very acceptable 70C and an I5 9600K reaching 80C under full load is warm but pretty much as expected.

Acoustic testing:

When idle, the fan noise coming from the GT501 is just about audible at 39.5 decibels . It makes a very peaceful desk companion. While under heavy load there is a noticeable increase in noise to 44.5 decibels. The fans do certainly make a little more noise but it isn't too loud and the noise created is at a pitch that isn't annoying.

The ASUS TUF GT501 can be found at Overclockers UK HERE for £144.95 *price correct at time of publishing

Pros:

 • Great Build quality.
 • Easy to build in.
 • Comes with Aura Sync RGB-illuminated fans.
 • Unique and attractive aesthetic.
 • Plenty of cooling options.
 • Strong carry handles.
 • Performs well.

Cons:

 • Rear 140mm fan lacks RGB.
 • EATX motherboard will overlap some cable management holes.
 • High price tag.

Kitguru says: It seems that ASUS know how to make a good PC case and we have no problem recommending the GT501 for anyone that likes its rugged and TUF aesthetic.

The post ASUS TUF Gaming H5 Wired 7.1 Headset Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
In this review we take a look at one of the peripherals from ASUS' TUF lineup. The TUF name originally appeared on a range of motherboards, and now with the start of the TUF Gaming Alliance there has been a shift to create an entire range of more affordable TUF components. The H5 is a multi-platform wired headset with 7.1 virtual surround sound, a dual microphone setup and a stainless steel headband design.

It uses the same grey and yellow colour scheme that is a staple of the TUF family, but is this headset worthy of the TUF name and can it justify the £79.99 asking price?

Specifications:

 • Driver diameter : 50 mm

The ASUS H5 TUF Gaming headset can be found for £79.99 on Amazon HERE

Pros:

 • Multi platform compatible.
 • Decent audio quality.
 • Lightweight and comfortable.
 • Good range of adjustability.
 • Industrial design matches well with TUF lineup.
 • Removable boom microphone & inline microphone.

Cons:

 • Braided cable is poor, and too short.
 • Virtual 7.1 surround only supported on PC.
 • Build quality doesn't feel “TUF”.
 • A little more headband padding would be beneficial.
 • Toggle for 7.1 surround is hard to reach when plugged into back of a PC.
 • Microphones are poor.

KitGuru says: Overall the H5 has acceptable sound quality and is comfortable to wear, but apart from the colour scheme we aren't sure this really fits in with the TUF family.
