Square Enix’s Avengers game has struggled to get the attention that the publisher had hoped since its launch back in August of 2020. Being a live-service title, the game’s developers ‘Crystal Dynamics’ is betting on its many promised updates to bring the game back into the limelight. Despite the slow start, the studio has now announced that its next ‘War Table’ stream will take place in just a few weeks.

The next Avengers War Table stream, which will give fans “a glimpse of the future” has been announced. The Stream will take place on the 16th of February and is said to focus on “Marvel's Avengers Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect”, as well as the previously promised next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S updates.

Hawkeye will be the second of many promised additional post-launch characters. The first character was Kate Bishop, who was added back in December (though was originally intended for an October release). The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Marvel’s Avengers were initially intended to release in 2020, though this was delayed into 2021.

While it’s clear that Square Enix’s Avengers game is not currently where the publisher had hoped the game would be, both due to delayed content and a generally lukewarm reception, it is good to see Crystal Dynamic getting the ball rolling once again in 2021.

Hopefully the War Table on the 16th of February will offer a much more encouraging look at the future of Marvel’s Avengers.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the game? Can Crystal Dynamics turn this ship around? What characters would you like to see added in the future? Let us know down below.

Just as promised, last night the next Marvel's Avengers War Table stream aired, giving us a ton of details about the upcoming beta for the game, as well as a lot of new gameplay to look at. This was perhaps the most promising look at the game yet, with the reaction on social media skewing more positive, particularly where graphics are concerned.

We already know from an announcement earlier this month that the Marvel's Avengers beta will take place in a few stages. It will kick off with closed betas for pre-order buyers and then transition to an open beta, although the timing of these beta tests differs on each platform.

The beta will include the initial Golden Bridge demo, which takes place right at the start of the game and sets up the main story. This section is roughly 25 minutes of gameplay, giving you a chance to try out Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Black Widow. After that's over, you will be able to take on a few of the game's other mission types, which can be played in single-player or co-op.

There will be two single-player ‘Hero' stages, access to HARM (Holographic Augmented Reality Machine), War Zone and Drop Zone missions. During these missions you will only be able to play with a handful of characters; Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Kamala Khan. Once the full game is out, however, you will be able to play these mission types with whatever unlocked character you choose, including the newly announced Hawkeye. Throughout gameplay, you'll earn XP and gear, so you can level up and test out new equipment to get a feel for in-game progression.

The Marvel's Avengers beta kicks off on the 7th of August for those who pre-ordered on PS4, the open beta on PS4 will take place on the 14th of August. On that same date, those who pre-ordered the game on PC and Xbox One will get access to the beta. On the 21st of August, the game will be in open beta on all platforms.
