Zotac has another RTX 3090 to add to its line-up, this time designed for custom water cooling loops. The RTX 3090 ArcticStorm comes with a pre-installed water block and a 16+4 phase power design, which should help with overclocking.

The Zotac RTX 3090 ArcticStorm's cooling system consists of a nickel-plated copper cold plate in direct contact with the GPU, and an anodised aluminium water block covering the whole graphics card. Moreover, the card also comes with a metal backplate designed to match the card's theme, improving its looks while also helping to cool the card passively.

Featuring a slim 25.9mm profile and a 2-slot design, this graphics card can be easily mounted even in compact ITX systems. The G 1/4″ inlet and outlet ports are standardized for improved compatibility. There are also sealing barbs supporting 10mm inner diameter tubing to prevent leakage.

The 16+4 power phase design allows users to push the card to new heights of performance. The card comes with a Powerboost control chip that increases the GPU stability by automatically adjusting the electrical current and correcting electrical deviations, resulting in less ripple and power variations.

Compatible with the Spectra 2.0 RGB system, the RTX 3090 ArcticStorm comes with multiple ARGB LEDs with various lighting modes. Users can control brightness and switch between lighting modes on individual zones using FireStorm. There is also a 3-pin RGB header that can be connected to a motherboard or RGB hub for synchronisation with other components.

KitGuru says: We don't have pricing information yet, but this is sure to be one of the more expensive RTX 3090s on the market. Are any of you planning on building a custom water-cooled system with an RTX 3090 this year? What do you make of Zotac's ArcticStorm model?

The post Leo Gets Hands-On with MSI MPG Z490 Carbon EK X first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
EKWB, the Slovenian liquid cooling company, has had a busy week with their Virtual EXPO event and also with the launch of the MSI MPG Z490 Carbon EK X, which is supplied in a package with a monoblock and an EK Leak Tester tool.

We covered the EXPO HERE and the launch of the motherboard HERE and now it's Leo's turn to add his views.

Note: if the above images are not displaying properly, you may need to disable Ad Block as it is known to interfere with our display code

We are familiar with the idea of buying a monoblock for your motherboard so you can cool your CPU and VRMs, but the usual procedure is to buy your motherboard from one store and then head to a specialist company such as EKWB for the monoblock and other hardware. The MSI MPG Z490 Carbon EK X breaks with precedent as you buy the motherboard from EKWB and it comes complete with the monoblock and an EK Leak Tester tool, plus all the usual MSI extra such as cables and a manual. This package is an official product that is supported by both MSI and EKWB so you are fully covered with a warranty.

In our video we discuss a number of new products that EKWB has announced such as Torque Micro, extenders, adapters and vertical GPU brackets but if you dig into Matthew's article you will also read about new Threadripper CPU blocks and a range of flow indicators. EK had a super week with their Virtual EXPO and while it isn't a substitute for Computex it certainly helps in keeping us fully informed.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: We have a stack of Z490 motherboards to review but you can be sure the MSI MPG Z490 Carbon EK X will have its moment of glory in the near future.

Recently, I built my very first custom liquid-cooled PC system, featuring an NVIDIA RTX 2080 Graphics Card and an Intel Core i7-9700K. I was genuinely very excited about doing this build and enjoyed the overall learning experience. I have built PC systems in the past, however nothing quite like this. This one is an absolute beauty. Many thanks to Alphacool, CORSAIR, Elgato, Intel, NVIDIA for the components supplied help make this build happen.

Gallery:

Specifications:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
  • Motherboard: ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 6
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4-3000MHz Vengeance Pro RGB plus light enhancement kit
  • CORSAIR Premium PCIe 3.0 x16 cable
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2080 Founders Edition
  • SSD: Corsair 960GB MP510
  • Case: Corsair 680X white
  • Fans: 6x Corsair White LL120
  • CORSAIR Commander Pro
  • Power Supply: Corsair RM850x
  • CORSAIR Pro PSU Cable Kit in white
  • Elgato 4K60 Pro capture card

Cooling System:

  • CPU block: Alphacool XPX CPU

  • Tubing: Alphacool Eisrohr Satin 13/10mm Plexi
  • Coolant: Alphacool Eiswasser Clear

My ‘OLD' System Specifications:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K7
  • RAM: 32GB DDR4-3000MHz Vengeance LED
  • Graphics: NVIDIA 1080ti Founders Edition
  • SSD: CORSAIR MP500 M.2 480GB
  • HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
  • Case: CORSAIR 460x
  • Fans: 6x CORSAIR Black LL120
  • CORSAIR Commander Pro
  • Power Supply: CORSAIR AX760
  • Cooling: CORSAIR H1150i Pro Liquid Cooling

Whilst my ‘OLD' system isn't far behind current specs, I've owned it for well over a year now, and I am looking forward to seeing how the new one compares. Especially considering my old PC was all air cooled with the exception of a CORSAIR H150i Pro AIO liquid cooler. This time around, I have a complete custom watercooling system in place using Alphacool hardware. My system fans have also been upgraded to Corsair LL120s. Of course, there is also the fact that my previous system was based on AMD's Ryzen CPU, which has now been upgraded to an Intel 9th Gen Core i7.

In terms of gaming performance and frame rates, I am intrigued to see the difference between the NVIDIA GTX 1080ti Founders Edition and the new RTX 2080 Founders Edition.

I don't have any benchmarks to share just yet but stay tuned for an update soon once I've had a chance to put this new rig through its paces!

KitGuru says: Once I've had a chance to use this PC properly, I'll put together a follow up video with comparisons between this NEW system and the ‘OLD' one. We'll have 3DMark scores, gaming benchmarks, Cinebench results and of course, a good look at the thermal results.

Today we are going to look at a gaming rig from a manufacturer called Falcon Computers.  They are an independent organisation based up in Sunderland, producing an extensive range of pre-configured and configurable gaming systems.

The Falcon Predator offers an impressive specification which includes an overclocked Intel Core i7-4770K, paired with an Asus Sabertooth Z87 motherboard and an Asus GeForce GTX 770 Direct CU II OC graphics card.  This specification makes the Predator ideal for those who don't have time to build their own system, but who want to use the latest components.

At a retail price of £1,399 inc vat is this a system you should be considering on a shortlist?

KitGuru's often spend their time salivating over some of the finest prebuilt systems on the market from the likes of Cryo.  They usually feature all the latest, greatest and most expensive tech and are finished off with a full water cooling system.

Such systems usually demand a price of £3000+ so are simply unobtainable to most users.

With this in mind we were excited when a very modestly-priced water-cooled system arrived at our offices from YOYOTech. The YOYOTech XDNA 760 features a water cooled Intel Core i5 760 CPU which is overclocked to a massive 4.2GHz along with nVidia's latest GTX470 graphics card. £1,499 inc vat is the asking price, which should certainly appeal to a much wider audience.
