Samsung to release Galaxy Core- A low end S3

Samsung will be releasing a new phone early next year – the Galaxy Core Advance. It looks similar to an S3 but it definitely does not have the same specs, in fact, it's screen resolution is going to be worse than that found on the original Galaxy S which was released back in 2010.

Aside from the screen which sports a 800×480 resolution with a measly 199 PPI, the rest of the specs seem to be in line with the Galaxy S2. It features a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage all running on Android 4.2. The phone will be available in white and blue, much like the Galaxy S3 on release. Aside from colours and specifications, Samsung hasn't said much regarding this phone's availability: “UK availability will be announced in due course”.

Unless this phone comes out at a sub £100 price point, it's probably not going to do well against the recently released Moto G which features a much faster quad core processor, a 720p screen and Android 4.4 Kit Kat for £130. It looks like the only thing this phone has got going for it is the famous Galaxy branding, which will unfortunately fool some in to buying it.

KitGuru Says: This is a bit of a cash grab, Samsung is effectively throwing together a phone made from ancient hardware and hoping some of the less informed will buy it because of the Galaxy brand. The release timing is weird too as the Galaxy S5 will probably release in or around March and April.
