CyanogenMod hits 10 million users mark

CyanogenMod has just surpassed the 10 million user mark, further proving that Android users want the barebones operating system, free of ugly skins coupled with fast updates. The custom rom has certainly set itself out from the crowd too, with its over the air updates as well nightly and stable install options.

CyanogenMod has actually got so popular that it can now directly content with Android itself as CM has partnered up with phone maker, Oppo, to bring the Oppo N1 with the custom ROM pre-installed. To top it off, Google has even given the phone its blessing as the phone had passed the compatibility test suite meaning it will officially get the Google Play store support as well as all of the official Google apps. The CM equipped Oppo N1 will release on the 24th of December incase you need a last minute christmas present.

For those users looking for a stock Android experience, Nexus, Google Play editions and to some extent, Motorola devices aren't the only phone's to be looking at anymore. We'll likely see more CM supported phones come to market after the Oppo N1.

KitGuru Says: The CyanogenMod team has certainly worked hard for its popularity, it provides old and abandoned phones with updates as well as keeping all popular non-Nexus devices up to date with Android's yearly updates. The Oppo N1 isn't a bad phone either.
