Kingdom Hearts 4 announcements are coming this week

Disney has now confirmed more of its plans for Kingdom Hearts at D23 this year. Following the panel announcement last month, we now know exactly who will be participating in the panel, and the guest list strongly suggests that Kingdom Hearts 4 news will be part of the event. 

A livestream of the ‘DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS’ panel will be available on the 16th of August at 12:30AM UK time. Disney says the session will offer a “behind‑the‑scenes look at the making of the games,” but it’s the guest list that has fans expecting Kingdom Hearts 4 news. The panel will feature Nana Gadd from Disney & Pixar Games, Tai Yasue from Square Enix, Haley Joel Osment (Sora), David Gallagher (Riku) and Renée Johnson, who oversees Disney character voices.

With Yasue believed to be co‑director on Kingdom Hearts 4, this lineup strongly suggests that the sequel will be part of the discussion. On top of that, the channels for The Game Awards will also be co-streaming the event, which further indicates we will be getting new information, not just a look back at the series' past.

It is also worth noting that Kingdom Hearts 4 was first announced during an event celebrating the series’ 20th anniversary, so it makes sense that we would get another update during a panel marking the 25th anniversary. Disney has increasingly used its own events to highlight gaming projects in recent years, including major Star Wars announcements, so this fits the pattern.

KitGuru Says: With this panel now confirmed to feature key developers and voice actors, it seems very likely that Kingdom Hearts 4 will get some kind of update. While we may not get release date news during this event, it sounds more and more likely that Kingdom Hearts 4 will be releasing in 2027.
