Sega moving ahead with classic games revival effort

While Sega did ultimately decide to cancel its ‘Super Game' project, the publisher is doubling down on its plans to revive classic franchises. 

As part of a recent earnings report, Sega confirmed it had cancelled its ambitious ‘Super Game' project, which was announced back in 2021, followed by a corporate partnership with Microsoft, presumably so that the dev team could use Azure cloud computing in some fashion.

While the Super Game is no more, the initiative to revive classic franchises is alive and well. Sega announced plans to revive a number of classics with brand-new games back in 2023, with new games planned for Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Streets of Rage.

This is all on top of the continued development of Sonic titles, which have been doing quite well in recent years, in part thanks to the success of the film series.
