Suckerpunch returned in 2025 with the launch of Ghost of Yotei, the long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. Like the original game, Ghost of Yotei includes its own Legends co-op mode, allowing players to team up to take on big battles. Unfortunately, after releasing just one raid, development on the Legends mode is now coming to an end.
Ghost of Yotei's Legends multiplayer mode will not be getting anymore content. In this mode, players take on more powerful versions of the Yotei Six from the single-player campaign, with battles re-balanced for a co-op environment. With the release of the Legends raid last month, development on the mode as come to a sudden end.
“The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends”, Suckerpunch confirmed in a PlayStation Blog post. “It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it and enjoy it. It’s been great.”
While there won't be any new content coming to Legends, the game mode will remain live and available for all players.
While Ghost of Yotei was a well-received game, the general consensus amongst players is that its campaign wasn't as impactful as the Ghost of Tsushima campaign. Ghost of Yotei also unfortunately released months after Assassin's Creed Shadows, which had a very similar main plot, also set in Japan, where players take on the role of a female shinobi on a quest for revenge against those who destroyed her family.
KitGuru Says: I ended up being very disappointed with the gameplay loop and overall plot in Yotei compared to Tsushima. On top of that, playing Yotei right after Assassin's Creed Shadows felt like playing the same game twice, although Yotei does win on combat and scope with its more manageable open world.
