Blizzard confirms WoW: Shadowlands Xbox listing was an error

The rumour mill began spinning early this week, as World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was rated in Brazil for both PC and Xbox Series X. There have been rumours of a console port for WoW floating around for years and at the time, this seemed like the evidence console-only gamers had been hoping for. Unfortunately, Blizzard has since corrected things, confirming that the listing was made in error.

The World of Warcraft: Shadowlands rating was spotted on the Brazil Ministry of Justice website. However, the Xbox Series X rating has since been removed, while Blizzard has confirmed that this was all a mistake.

In a statement sent out to the press, Blizzard said: “We currently have no plans to bring World of Warcraft or Shadowlands to Xbox Series X. The platform was listed on the Brazil Ministry of Justice rating website in error, and the entry has since been updated to reflect that the game is coming only to PC”.

World of Warcraft is getting extensive controller support this year though. Blizzard wants to enable commands and hotkey functions on gamepads to improve the game's accessibility – a big focus within the gaming industry over the last couple of years.

KitGuru Says: It is unfortunate that this all turned out to be a mistake, but it also makes some sense. It would be a huge task to bring an MMO as massive as WoW to consoles at this late stage in its life.

KitGuru Games: Corporate nonsense has put Helldivers 2 in jeopardy as game removed from over 170 countries

It tends to take a lot for gamers to 'forgive' a studio after messing up a launch, for instance CD Projekt Red had to spend three additional years developing Cyberpunk 2077 before many were willing to give the game another shot. In the case of Helldivers 2, despite the game having some rough server issues at launch, the game turned out to be so good that many players simply waited things out, without leaving a trail of negative reviews. Now, a case of incredibly poor communication and a poorly thought-out plan from the game's publisher, Sony, has put Helldivers 2 in jeopardy, with the game being removed from over 170 countries.
