Take-Two CEO ‘feeling a lot better’ about next Bioshock game after recent changes

It has been over a decade since the release of Bioshock Infinite and there has been little public progress towards a new game during that time. In a recent interview, Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, actually addressed the state of the Bioshock IP, confirming that the new game is in a good place.

Development on the next Bioshock game was publicly announced in 2019 as part of a recruitment drive, but the game lingered in development hell for years afterwards. As pointed out by VGC, last year, Take-Two appointed new leadership at the studio, including former Blizzard executive, Rod Fergusson, to right the ship.

In an interview with Game File, Zelnick said that he was “feeling a lot better” about the next Bioshock game after recent changes. He did also confirm that the company “wasted a lot of time and money chasing down some creative alleys that turned out to be dead ends” but added that this is the “nature of entertainment”.

During the Xbox 360 era, Bioshock was hailed as one of the best IP of the generation. Unfortunately, we didn't get a new Bioshock game during the entire Xbox One / PS4 generation and right now, the IP looks to be on track to skip Xbox Series / PS5 too, as next-gen consoles are expected within the next couple of years.

KitGuru Says: Bioshock was too good for it to remain dormant for this long. Hopefully at some point in the next couple of years, we'll finally get a preview of what to expect from the next game.
