SilverStone Argon Series AR01 CPU Cooler Review

SilverStone ship the Argon Series AR01 in a blue box with a clear image of the cooler on the front and some key features listed on top.

The side of the box shows a list of specifications. Our review model was sent with a sticker correcting the specifications for the included fan. Final retail boxes do not include this sticker as these have the correct specifications listed.

Inside the box are the cooler, the PWM fan, cooling paste, screws, a backplate and mounting plates for AMD and Intel sockets as well as a manual. SilverStone also includes additional rubber mounts to facilitate a push-pull configuration.

Taking a closer look at the cooler we can see the blue and white fan attached with the rubber mounts.

Moving to the top of the cooler we can see the pattern consisting of diagonal lines and the protruding ends of the heat pipes. We can also see the cut-outs for the fan mounts here.

There are 53 fins and none of them were bent or misaligned.

The side of the cooler shows no gaps between any of the fin clips. This side image also gives us a better look at the cut-outs for the fan mounts. Covering the whole height of the cooler, there are no restrictions on where to mount the fan.

The AR01 uses Heat-Pipe direct contact (HDC) technology. The base of the cooler is smooth, though it has not received a mirror finish.

Finally, a better look at the fan. The cable has been braided, a plus for those who wish to maintain a color scheme in their systems.

The fan uses a sleeve bearing and is rated 16.4-33.5 dBA with the ability to produce an airflow of 37.2~81.4CFM.

Considering the modest asking price, SilverStone has made sure to include all the necessary bits and pieces whilst providing a well-built cooler.
