OCZ Vertex 2 100GB SSD Review

HD Tach is a low level hardware benchmark for random access read/write storage devices such as hard drives, removable drives (ZIP/JAZZ), flash devices, and RAID arrays. HD Tach uses custom device drivers and other low level Windows interfaces to bypass as many layers of software as possible and get as close to the physical performance of the device possible.

The read performance in HDtach is just slightly ahead of the original Vertex drive, although slightly shy of the Intel X-25M unit.

We want to compare write performance with the two Vertex drives again.

Achieving over 200mb/s in HD Tach's write test is class leading. The aging Vertex unit also puts in a good performance at 189 mb/s.
