Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.01 enables REDmod for Phantom Liberty

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.0 and Phantom Liberty are now live and so far, the response has been nothing but positive. Unlike the game's initial launch, the release of Phantom Liberty has impressed fans, leading to thousands of positive reviews. While these were the last two major updates planned for the game, there is still some patching to be done, with Patch 2.01 now rolling out for all platforms.

This patch was first announced last week but is now rolling out on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The update contains a bunch of bug fixes, many more than initially advertised in last week's patch announcement. Most importantly though, this patch adds Phantom Liberty support to REDmod, so now mod makers can update their creations to work with the latest version of the game and create new mods.

Here are the patch notes highlights:

  • The distorted effect caused by selecting a specific dialogue option when talking to Johnny at the end of Automatic Love will no longer persist on the screen.
  • V will no longer die in The Heist by falling through the elevator when riding to the 42nd floor with low FPS.
  • Fixed an issue where the UI could show controller inputs when playing with keyboard and mouse.
  • Made it possible to properly switch to arms cyberware by cycling through weapons.
  • Gig: Breaking News will be properly triggered after approaching the quest area.
  • Vehicle radio volume will be adjusted so it's not too quiet when compared to other sounds in the game.
  • Addressed the issue of corrupted saves on PlayStation by increasing the maximum save file size limit. Note: this won't fix the saves corrupted before the update. If you're experiencing the issue, keep a working save (e.g. resave it as manual save) till 2.01 arrives.
  • Performance improvements for both PC and consoles, especially in the Dogtown area.

These are just a few of the highlights but the full patch notes are much more extensive, going over new quest fixes for Phantom Liberty, additional gameplay fixes, as well as performance and stability improvements for all platforms.

KitGuru Says: CD Projekt Red disabled mods for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty but with this update, REDmod can be renabled for the latest version of the game. With the final pieces of content now in place, it will be down to modders to keep Night City alive in the years ahead.
