PUBG’s 2024 roadmap announced, Unreal Engine 5 upgrade and new overhauls detailed

While the PUBG mod has been with us for over a decade, the official, standalone Battle Royale version of the game is just turning seven years old. As part of the game's 7th anniversary roadmap, players can expect a big overhaul, with the game moving over to Unreal Engine 5.

Unreal Engine 5 includes access to new technologies to present next generation graphics and physics. In 2024, with the jump to UE5, PUBG will get destructible environments, a weapon balance overhaul, new features, collaborations and gameplay modes, matchmaking improvements, and anti-cheat enhancements.

The developers at Krafton went into more detail during the latest developer diary. Players can expect balance updates every two months, with player feedback from the ‘Gunplay Labs' mode taken into account for any changes needed. Additionally, those who want to really get competitive will benefit from a new ranked mode overhaul, and ranked players will soon get access to Rondo, the latest map in PUBG.

PUBG is available for free across PC, Xbox and PlayStation. A separate mobile-focused version is also available on iOS and Android devices.
