Resident Evil Requiem surpasses six million copies sold

Resident Evil Requiem, the last entry in the ‘Winters Saga' launched to wide critical and fan acclaim at the end of February, shifting 5 million copies during its launch week alone. Now a couple of weeks later, Capcom has announced that the game has reached a new milestone.

As of this week, Resident Evil Requiem (Resident Evil 9) has sold over six million copies worldwide across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. On top of that, later this week Capcom will be celebrating the series' 30th anniversary on the 22nd of March with new announcements, including a collaboration between Resident Evil and Universal Studios Japan.

The Resident Evil 30th Anniversary celebrations are also expected to include a series of orchestral concerts across Europe, Japan and the US.

With Resident Evil Requiem surpassing six million copies sold in its first few weeks, it is comfortably outpacing the recent Remake games, including Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake, all of which garnered around or under 4 million sales during their first month on the market.

The direct prequel to Resident Evil Requiem, 2022's Resident Evil Village, sold around 4.5 million copies during its first two months on the market. In all, Capcom has to be pleased with how this final entry is doing.

KitGuru Says: Resident Evil Requiem finally masters the blend of action and horror, bringing the styles of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 together into one fantastic adventure. The formula seems to have resonated, so fans will no doubt hope to see it return when it is time to bring out Resident Evil 10.
