V Rising is a survival action-RPG which sees players “awaken as a vampire,” forcing you to “hunt for blood in nearby settlements to regain your strength and evade the scorching sun to survive”. Initially launching in Early Access back in 2022, the title saw rapid success, selling over 1.5 million copies within its first couple weeks. Since then, the team at Sunlock Studios have revealed that a new project in the V Rising universe is currently in the works; said to be “our most ambitious project yet in our 15-year history of making games.”
Taking to their blog to detail the team’s “next era” Sunlock Studios officially confirmed that they are working on their follow-up to V Rising, writing: “Today, we’d like to share a bit of what we’ve been crafting and offer some clarity on the direction of Stunlock Studios and V Rising. We can’t reveal much just yet, but we don’t think even creatures of the night enjoy being left completely in the dark.”
With that, the team officially confirmed the fact that they are “working on a new game set in the beautiful, strange, and gothic world of V Rising.”
Said to be their “most ambitious project yet in our 15-year history of making games” Sunlock Studios offered a slight tease for what to expect, stating:
“Our next game will invite you to explore your darkest whims in a world of greater depth, danger, and mystery than ever before. The odyssey of the Vampire continues in an experience that feels both familiar and strikingly new. We take on this challenge with great respect for what it demands as we set out to build something extraordinary, and when the time comes, your feedback, as always, will help guide us as we refine and improve.”
V Rising is a fun game which leans heavily into its concept, making for a unique vampire-focused survival crafter which only got better with time as the title was updated with both paid and free DLC. Assuming they take all their learnings from the previous project and apply it to their next endeavour, Sunlock Studios could be cooking up something quite special. We will have to wait and see.
