KITGURU SHORTLISTS: THE BEST GRAPHICS CARD OF 2025

Nothing affects frame rate quite as much as your graphics card. But which GPU? Which manufacturer? Which clock/memory configuration? All of these factors come into play – making the difference between choppy frames and silky smooth action.

Nvidia RTX 5090

Overall then, I do think the RTX 5090 is a solid card. Yes, there are some valid concerns around pricing and power draw increases, but I just don't think the target audience for this card will be particularly bothered - it's ultimately all about the increased performance, and while circa 30% gains won't blow your mind like the jump from an RTX 3090 to the RTX 4090, it's still a decent generational uplift considering that Moore's Law, if not completely dead, is certainly well out the door.

AMD RX 9070 XT

The AMD RX 9070 XT is a very strong contender in this market segment and shows real improvement versus RDNA 3. It's more than met its target of delivering highly compelling value against Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti when it comes to rasterisation, with a 25% reduction in cost per frame - a terrific result for AMD and something that will appeal to a lot of PC gamers right now.

AMD RX 9060 XT 16GB

AMD has a very good thing on its hands with the RX 9060 XT 16GB. Simply offering 16GB of VRAM at this price point is enough to give it a huge advantage over the competition, not to mention its solid gaming performance, much improved ray tracing and FSR 4 support. We'd expect this to sell very well indeed at the £315 MSRP.

Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti

The RTX 5070 Ti is undoubtedly a more attractive overall package than the RTX 5080, given it has improved the value proposition by a reasonable amount, offering performance that's more or less at RTX 4080 Super levels, this time for £729 - at least in terms of the MSRP. It also helps that the suggested pricing has dropped compared to the RTX 4070 Ti Super, given that GPU launched at £769 about a year ago.

Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 16GB

In the context of today's market, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is a decent product. After all, it's still delivering circa 15% gains over its predecessor, the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, while it sips power by modern standards, averaging under 150W in my testing. Plus with 16GB VRAM, you won't be running out of memory any time soon. Just don't get the 8GB model, please.
