Samsung rumoured to unveil a 5-inch, 1080p display at CES

After the HTC J Butterfly, Droid DNA for Verizon and the leaked Sony Yuga it seems rather obvious that the next big trend for high-end Android phones is 1080p displays. The latest rumours is that Samsung is set to join the trend by announcing a 4.99 inch display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

The Super AMOLED display will have a 1080p resolution; equating to a pixel density of 441 PPI. The current Galaxy S III only has a display with a pixel density of ‘just' 306 PPI. Manufacturing of these flagship displays are expected to commence in Q1 2013 and will likely be paired with Samsung's next generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IV.

KitGuru says: The already released Galaxy S III has a 4.8 inch, 720p Super AMOLED display and it really begs the question; how large will flagship smartphones get?
