Minecraft Dungeons 2 announced with 2026 release date

In recent years, Mojang has been hard at work on expanding Minecraft beyond the main game through multiple spin-offs. Over the weekend during Minecraft Live 2026, the next big spin-off title was announced, and it's a sequel to one of the best spin-offs so far.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is officially on the way. The game will release later this year for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and of course, Xbox Series X/S consoles. The new Minecraft Diablo-like will put players on an adventure to take out a new, dangerous enemy force.

The original Minecraft Dungeons released in 2020 and was generally well-received by fans and critics, myself included. Over its first three years, it managed to garner 25 million players, a drop in the ocean compared to actual Minecraft, but still a highly respectable number in today's competitive videogame market.

There is no exact release date yet, but the game will be out later this year. As you would expect from a first-party Microsoft game, it will be available on Game Pass, although you'll likely need the highest-tier Game Pass Ultimate subscription to play it on day-one.

KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed my time with the original Minecraft Dungeons. It will be interesting to see how the sequel improves on the original formula. So far though, we've seen very little of the game, as the teaser trailer does not give much away.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
