PlayStation Store ad points to The Last of Us Part 2 on PS+ Extra and Premium

Advertising errors on console stores are nothing new. We've previously seen a number of major games mistakenly listed as available through Game Pass on Xbox for instance. A recent image change on the PlayStation Store is now hinting at The Last of Us Part II for PS+ Extra and Premium subscribers, but a reliable leaker claims it won't be coming in October.

As shared on Reddit, one UK PS5 owner saw an advert for PlayStation Plus Deluxe on their system and in the leading image, we can see Ellie from The Last of Us Part II, alongside Aloy from Horizon Forbidden West, as well as promotional art for Hogwarts Legacy.

This could hint at The Last of Us Part II being considered for the PS+ Extra library. However, regular PS+ monthly games leaker, Bilbil-Kun, says that the game is not amongst the list of titles coming to PS+ Extra or Premium in October.

This does not mean that the game isn't planned to arrive on the service at a later date. However, looking at the promo image seen, we also see Hogwarts Legacy, another game that is not available on PS+ Extra or Premium. Given that this is one of the highest selling games of the year, we don't expect to see Hogwarts Legacy on a subscription service at any point this year.

With all of that in mind, this could well be an issue with the ad rotation service for the PS Store, rather than a true leak. Another piece of evidence pointing to this outcome is the advertised service itself. PS+ Deluxe is only offered in a few regions where cloud streaming is unavailable. Here in the UK, we have PS+ Premium and not Deluxe, indicating that an error has occurred somewhere along the way.

KitGuru Says: The Last of Us Part II is pretty old at this point, so adding it to PS+ Extra for a boost makes plenty of sense. However, there are a lot of question marks around this leak, so it is far from a sure thing.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
