Nintendo announces surprise Direct stream

Following on from Gamescom, there have been numerous Nintendo leaks, with a number of sources claiming that a new next-gen system was shown to developers behind closed doors. The Nintendo surprises don't stop there though, as a new Direct stream is coming up this week.

Today, Nintendo announced its next Nintendo Direct stream. The show will go live tomorrow, the 14th of September at 3PM BST. The show will last for 40 minutes, primarily focused on Nintendo Switch games releasing this Winter.

As this Direct is focusing on upcoming Switch titles, we don't expect to see an official announcement for Nintendo's next console. Current rumours suggest Nintendo won't announce the new system until sometime in 2024.

Nintendo typically hosts a Direct each September, announcing games releasing ahead of Christmas and a few surprises for early the next year. We already know about Nintendo's plans for a Mario RPG remake and the upcoming release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Perhaps we'll finally hear about Metroid Prime 4.

KitGuru Says: There tend to be very few legitimate leaks for Nintendo Direct streams but we do have one so far. A recent ratings listing shows that Gotham Knights is due to arrive on the Switch, so we should be hearing more about that tomorrow.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
