EVO 2024 brought forward by one week; moving to a new location

Last month, following the conclusion of EVO 2023, E-Sports Evolution announced that the highly popular fighting game tournament would be returning in 2024, taking place once again in Las Vegas from the 26th to the 28th of July. In a surprising move, not only has the venue now been changed, but so too has its event dates – being brought forward by a week while also adding an extra day to the calendar.

Making the announcement on Twitter in a tongue-in-cheek manner, the official EVO account revealed these updated details, saying:

“Save the Date 2024 Patch Notes:

Reduced Recovery on Evo 2023

  • Evo Las Vegas 2024 now July 19-21 (Changed from July 26-28)

Venue Adjustments

  • +1 to Convention Activity days (previously 2 days)
  • New Location

More details in January 2024!”

As mentioned by the event holder more details will be shared early next year, however it has been speculated that one of the reasons for these changing dates is due to EVO originally clashing with the highly popular San Diego Comic-Con as well as Dreamcon.

It is interesting to see the event brought forward even further considering the fact that next year’s event was already set to take place earlier than 2023’s tournament. That said, getting an extra day of EVO is exciting and so we will have to wait and see what the team has planned.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
