The next Mortal Kombat game will be officially unveiled tomorrow

In recent weeks, we've seen a lot of rumours and leaks for the next Mortal Kombat game. At this point, we know quite a bit about the new game through unofficial channels and tomorrow, NetherRealm will finally start making things official.

In a tweet this evening, NetherRealm revealed plans to reveal the next Mortal Kombat tomorrow, the 18th of May at 2PM BST. With that in mind, we'll have our first official look at Mortal Kombat (potentially titled “Mortal Kombat 1”) tomorrow.

Early rumours around Mortal Kombat 12 claimed that the game would be a reboot of sorts, with a campaign mode that resets the timeline. With the game now being referred to simply as Mortal Kombat 1, that idea is further reinforced.

We may only get a short teaser trailer tomorrow rather than a full reveal, as this year's major summer game announcement events are coming up over the next few weeks. I expect we'll see a teaser, followed by a more in-depth gameplay reveal at the PlayStation Showcase on the 24th of May, or perhaps in June as part of Summer Game Fest.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
