Life is Strange creators announce Action-RPG Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DONTNOD Entertainment have long been known for their work on the Life is Strange series, however their repertoire extends far beyond that game’s genre, with the studio’s debut title being the oft-forgotten combat-focused ‘Remember Me’. Now, the team have announced their most ambitious game yet: Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden – a story driven Action-RPG.

Announced at the 2022 Game Awards, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is described as follows:

“New Eden, 1695. Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are lovers and Banishers, ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters. Following a disastrous last mission, Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. In the haunted wilds of North America, the couple desperately searches for a way to liberate Antea from her new plight.”

Though very little gameplay was shown, it is quite clear that Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Is DONTNOD’s most ambitious game yet, combining all of the strengths and learnings from the studio’s previous projects to make a game that is not only filled with impactful and challenging moral decisions, but also features in-depth combat mechanics using magic, weapons and spiritual powers – evolving your character both personally and mechanically.

Hopefully we get to see more from Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden ahead of its release some time in late 2023.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
