Call of Duty: Warzone enters its final season today

Activision announced a while back that it was planning a new version of Warzone to launch later this year, following Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. We still haven't seen Warzone 2.0 in action, nor do we have an official launch date. However, that should change very soon, as the current version of Warzone is entering its final season today.

Today, Call of Duty: Warzone will go live with its next season, dubbed ‘Last Stand'. The update introduces new community events and challenges to complete to unlock new weapon blueprints and cosmetics. The season will take players on a tour across multiple Warzone maps, with Caldera, Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep rotating. Unfortunately for fans of the Verdansk map, it doesn't seem to be coming back at all, even for Warzone 1.0's send-off.

The current version of Warzone will be replaced later this year by Warzone 2.0. Once again, Infinity Ward is returning to set the stage for years of content to come. This time around, Warzone 2.0 might also add a new major mode alongside Battle Royale – DMZ. This mode has been mentioned in several leaks and takes inspiration from Escape from Tarkov, offering a more tactical and unforgiving experience.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is due to release on the 28th of October. Warzone 2.0 does not have a release date yet, but recent rumours suggest it'll go live on the 16th of November, a little earlier than previous predictions.
