Pearl Abyss confirms Crimson Desert is coming to Switch 2

After previously teasing plans for a Switch 2 version, Pearl Abyss has now confirmed that the Switch 2 port of Crimson Desert is well into development. At this stage, the game is running on Switch 2 hardware, but the studio still needs to do plenty of optimisation work before it can release. 

Pearl Abyss told shareholders that it is preparing “DLC, strategic pricing and platform expansion” for Crimson Desert. As part of that expansion, the team has been working on a Switch 2 version of the game. According to the company, “the game has reached a playable baseline, and we are currently conducting technical reviews regarding performance optimisation and quality standard compliance, targeting a release in the first half of next year.”

The studio added that while it can't confirm a final launch date yet, it is “working toward a release targeted for the first half of 2027″.  Assuming optimisation goes smoothly, Crimson Desert should be available on Switch 2 by this time next year.

Crimson Desert has already enjoyed strong momentum since launch, surpassing five million copies sold across PC, Xbox and PS5. A Switch 2 version would open the game up to millions of additional players, further boosting its reach. The game has also maintained a Very Positive rating on Steam, with tens of thousands of user reviews praising its open‑world design and combat.

KitGuru Says: Crimson Desert has been a big success for Pearl Abyss so far, and expanding to Switch 2 makes a lot of sense. With DLC also in development, it looks like Crimson Desert still has a long life ahead of it.
