Chivalry 2 pushed back to 2021

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare was one of the most popular multiplayer PC games back in the early 2010s and over the years, the studio has been working on a big sequel to compete with the likes of For Honor and other modern multiplayer brawlers. While Chivalry 2 was initially due to come out this year, it has since been pushed back to 2021. 

Torn Banner Studios has announced this week that Chivalry 2 will now be shipping in 2021. The delay was “necessary to allow Chivalry 2 to be the greatest game it can be”, this will also give the developers extra time to ensure that the game is the “true sequel” it really wants this to be.

Chivalry 2 was first unveiled at E3 last year and takes advantage of the graphical leaps that have taken place in the last decade. When Chivalry 2 is ready, it will be shipping for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.

As you might expect from a delay announcement in 2020, COVID-19 is cited as one of the main issues here: “As we settle in to working together in new ways in a COVID-19 world, our development timelines are shifting to utilize this additional time to better meet our core goals for Chivalry 2, as well as allowing us to incorporate several quality of life improvements and also include what was originally post-launch content, in the release.”

Due to the delay, the previously planned Summer 2020 beta test phase is also being pushed back. Chivalry fans will still get to try out a beta version at a later date.
