Ghost of Tsushima is getting a co-op multiplayer mode

Ghost of Tsushima has quickly become a best-seller for Sony, breaking records for the fastest selling new IP on PlayStation. Sucker Punch isn't done with its Samurai adventure though, as a co-op multiplayer mode is also coming later this year in a free update.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends has been announced and will ship sometime in the next few months. Sucker Punch describes this as “an entirely new experience”, so it won't spoil story content or continue the story of Jin and his companions.

Some of what you'll be getting up to in Legends was also revealed in a PlayStation blog: “We designed Legends to be an exclusively cooperative gameplay experience. You'll be able to partner up with friends or via online matchmaking and play Legends in groups of 2-4 players. Each player can choose from one of four different character classes: the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin. Each class has unique advantages and abilities that we'll reveal in the future.”

“With two players in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you'll be able to play a series of co-op story missions that escalate in difficulty, building on the foundation of combat from the single-player campaign but with new magical twists that often require careful synchronisation with your partner.”

If you gather a team of four players, you'll be able to also take on wave-based survival missions, during which you'll fight groups of the strongest enemies found throughout Ghost of Tsushima. There will even be a four-player raid mission after launch to push your skills to their limits. As you would expect, participating in these multiplayer modes does require a PlayStation+ subscription.

KitGuru Says: Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is an interesting concept and could be a good spin-off for telling small side stories and building on the world Sucker Punch set up in the main game. Have any of you played Ghost of Tsushima since release? Will you be returning for this co-op update later this year?

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
