Rocksteady devs brought Arkham DNA to Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has impressed early players thanks to its massive Gotham map, combined with its Arkham-style combat. Now we know why the game shares so much DNA with the Arkham games – Rocksteady has been working on it.

As spotted by VGC, the end credits for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight confirm that 24 employees from Rocksteady worked on the game, including producers, designers, programmers and artists, meaning that Rocksteady touched almost every aspect of the title.

Early reviews for Legacy of the Dark Knight pointed out that the game took inspiration from Rocksteady's Arkham series, with a similar Free Flow combat system, as well as a ton of collectibles, including the infamous Riddler trophies and a wide range of different Bat Suit costumes.

It is a good sign to see Rocksteady working on Batman again. After the massive failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, there was some concern that Rocksteady could be shut down but the studio remains active on multiple projects.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully Rocksteady can return to its own Arkham game at some point. It has been over ten years since Arkham Knight, but fans still regularly sing the praises of those games.
