Leaker claims Steam Deck 2 will arrive in 2028

Valve has made no announcements about an upgraded Steam Deck. In fact, most official statements from Valve indicate that the Steam Deck 2 will be a long way off. Now, we have an idea of the timeline we can expect, with a reliable leaker claiming a 2028 target for Steam Deck 2.

KeplerL2, a hardware leaker with a unique focus on console-grade chips, has made the claim that the Steam Deck 2 is planned for 2028. They did not expand beyond that, but given this leaker's history, it is likely that whatever information they have is coming from leaked AMD roadmap details, rather than from Valve directly. AMD notably makes the chips that power the Xbox and PlayStation home consoles, as well as the chips powering the Steam Deck and its competitors, like the ROG Ally.

AMD is expected to announce its updated roadmap for ‘mobile' chips in the near future. This would include the APUs destined for devices like the Steam Deck. It is possible that KeplerL2 has early knowledge of the roadmap.

If accurate, AMD must be working on a new chip that provides a major generational uplift compared to the Ryzen Z series. Valve has previously vowed to not bother with a ‘Steam Deck 2' until hardware reaches a point where it can double performance. Doing that in such a small, low-TDP chip is no easy feat, which explains the potential six year gap between devices.

KitGuru Says: Do you think Valve will follow through with a Steam Deck 2? The company has dropped other hardware projects in the past, including cheap devices like the Steam Link and Steam Controller.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
