Capcom questioned by shareholders over poor optimisation in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons recently. While the announcement of the game's new free content update should have been a celebrated moment, the lack of any performance improvements led to a flurry of negative reviews. Now, Capcom has been forced to address the elephant in the room.

Capcom has finally addressed the on-going complaints around optimisation in Monster Hunter Wilds. Since launch, the game has had performance problems on both PC and console. Now that the game has drifted to an ‘Overwhelmingly Negative' user score on Steam, Capcom executives have finally had to face the music in the most recent shareholder meeting.

As reported by PCGamer, one shareholder asked Capcom's board if the development staff was ‘aware of the feedback' around optimisation and content volume in Monster Hunter Wilds. In response, Capcom said that it is “committed to enhancing user satisfaction” with future updates for the game.

It is a fairly standard response, but it is an interesting turn. Capcom has mostly received praise in recent years for its quality releases. The fact that shareholders are asking questions about optimisation and content volume shows that standards have slipped with recent projects like Monster Hunter Wilds, and that will need to be corrected for upcoming releases for games like Resident Evil Requiem.
