MindsEye launch gets complicated

MindsEye, the new game from former Rockstar producer, Leslie Benzies, is about to have a somewhat complicated launch. The game releases on PC and consoles today but will require a day-one patch to play ‘as intended'. Unfortunately, this patch will not be made available to those buying the game on Xbox.

If you buy MindsEye on Xbox at launch today, you won't get the necessary day-one patch. According to the studio, differing certification policies are to blame, but most developers have little issue lining up their launch patches across platforms, so I think it is more likely that the update was submitted past a deadline date, which could in turn indicate a somewhat rushed launch.

The studio says that this particular update is necessary to play MindsEye ‘as intended' as it contains key refinements. However, Build a Rocket Boy also says that it will be looking to ‘grow the game' with the players, so feedback after launch could lead to more changes.

This crucial game update for MindsEye will be available to PC and PlayStation players as soon as the game unlocks tonight. There is no word on when it will arrive on Xbox but it should be within the week.
