Fractal Design Node 605 Case Review

It's quite clear from a glance that the Node 605 has been designed to look sexy under your TV.  The front panel of the case has a minimalistic design and is finished exclusively in black-anodised brushed aluminium.  The aluminium sheet is broken only by the power button and the small Fractal Design logo in the bottom right hand corner.

The plain front panel will keep people guessing what lies within until the bottom section is flipped down to reveal a wealth of front panel connectors.  From left to right we find a Firewire port, microphone and headphone jacks, two USB3.0 ports and an assortment of card readers.  The reset button and a slimline optical drive bay are also located under this flap.

Moving round to the sides of the case, there are twin 120 mm fan vents in both flanks.  One of each pair are populated with 120 mm Fractal Design branded fans.  These are speed-controlled via an integrated fan controller which is operated with a small switch on the right-hand side of the case.

It would be fair to say that the rear layout of the case closely resembles a standard tower case rotated onto its side.  The only major difference is the lack of a 120 mm exhaust fan.  Fractal have opted instead for twin 80 mm fan vents, allowing them to reduce the profile of the case significantly.
