Medion launches new 7in tablet exclusive to Asda

UK supermarket, Asda, has partnered up with Medion to launch the new Medion LifeTab E7310 exclusively at its stores across the country. This move has likely come about to rival the recently launched Tesco Hudl and Argos ‘Mytablet' devices.

The LifeTab will launch on the 15th of November in-store and on Asda's website for £77, specs include:

  • 1024×600 resolution screen.
  • 1.4GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor
  • 8GB internal memory
  • SD card slot
  • 2 MP rear facing camera
  • 0.3 MP front facing camera
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

It comes with a slower processor than both the Mytablet and the Hudl but the screen resolution matches Argos's tablet and the Medion LifeTab undercuts both devices on price.

There is a handy USB 2.0 port for connecting up a keyboard or transferring files without a PC, the device also comes pre installed with an office suite app called ‘Documents and Go' making it a good budget option for classrooms. We've heard stories of schools using iPads before but they are much more expensive and it only takes one destructive kid to ruin it for everyone.

Kitguru Says: It's not powerful or impressive but it is cheap, small and light. That USB port could be quite handy too. Sainsburys has a partnering tech company called Celcus, I wonder if it'll be releasing a tablet next. What's your take on all of these budget offerings?
