Samsung unveils its first Android 4.0 tablet, Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)

Samsung has announced this morning their latest addition to its tablet lineup, the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0). This is the first tablet to be produced by Samsung that will run on the lastest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Layered on top of the stock user interface will be an upgraded version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

The Galaxy Tab 2 has a dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM and either 8/16/32 GB of storage (plus a MicroSD slot) all helping power a 7 inch 1024×600 PLS TFT display. While the resolution may seem poor it has a higher PPI count than a 1280×800 10.1 inch display, the likes of which are often found on larger tablets.

When you do find the need for the camera there will be a 3 MP fixed-focus rear camera and a front facing 0.3 MP camera on hand.

The latest Galaxy branded tablet is just 10.5 mm thick, weighs 344 grams and has a 4000 mAh battery.

There will be both Wi-Fi only and quad-band 3G versions available when a global launch starts off in the UK next month. No pricing information has been released at this stage.
