AMD Ryzen 9 9000X3D CPUs to get clock speed bump

AMD's upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors will offer more alternatives within the Ryzen 9000X3D series starting in late January. Contrary to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, the new processors will reportedly have no boost frequency compromises, hitting the same clock speeds as their non-X3D counterparts.

Leaker HXL has revealed that these high-end CPUs, slated for launch next month, will not suffer from the frequency limitations that affected the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This is because, unlike the 9800X3D, the new Ryzen 9 X3D models will feature a single CCD with 3D V-Cache, while the other CCD will be optimised for maximum clock speeds. This design mirrors the approach used in the previous generation Ryzen 7000X3D series, where the CPUs maintained the same maximum frequencies as their non-X3D counterparts.

HXL also suggests that the single- and multi-threaded performance of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D will be on par with that of the Ryzen 9 9950X, indicating a significant performance uplift compared to the previous generation.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D are expected to be revealed at CES 2025 during AMD's keynote. AMD is also expected to unveil the new Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards and FSR 4 in the same event.
