Batman: Arkham Shadow puts a young Bruce Wayne up against the Rat King

Batman Arkham is getting a surprise return this year with Batman: Arkham Shadow. This new game in the series, set between the events of Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum, will put players in the shoes of a young but increasingly confident version of Batman, with access to all of the crime fighting tools you would expect.

At Gamescom this week, the Batman: Arkham Shadow gameplay trailer finally dropped. While the game was announced months ago with a teaser image, this is our first look at the game in action:

As the trailer shows, we'll be using various gadgets, mixed with hand-to-hand combat to take down enemies on our search for Gotham's Rat King and his cult. As this is a VR game, motion controls are going to be heavily relied on here, so if you don't have much space to play, you'll want to be extra careful to avoid punching a wall, or a TV.

For now, Batman: Arkham Shadow is an exclusive for the Quest 3 VR headset, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for a wider release that includes more PC VR platforms and headsets in the future.

KitGuru Says: My Quest 3 has sat in a cupboard for months so it will be nice to finally have a reason to jump back into VR. However, I'll be waiting to see the full scope of the game relative to its price first, especially after Batman: Arkham VR turned out to be nothing more than a tech demo.
