G-Man voice actor teases return of Half-Life in 2025

Recently, we heard that Valve has begun its next wave of testing for its next single-player Half-Life game, codenamed HLX. Now, an ominous tease from a well-known Half-Life voice actor points to 2025 being a big year for the franchise.

Voice actor Mike Shapiro, who voiced both Barney and G-Man in the Half-Life games, posted on X today with a video celebrating the upcoming year. Speaking in the voice of G-Man, Shapiro teases ‘unexpected surprises' and says we'll see him in the new year.

If this video didn't have G-Man as the voice behind it, then it would be easy to write off as just a fun way of saying happy new year to the fans. However, with HLX getting constant updates, tracked via Source 2 code strings that appear in every Valve-published Source 2 game, it does seem that official Half-Life news is indeed on the way.

Valve has not yet publicly acknowledged Project HLX, nor has it made any official announcements about Half-Life 3. The leaks we are seeing right now are very reminiscent of the leaks we saw when Half-Life Alyx was nearing its official reveal.

KitGuru Says: All signs are pointing to a new Half-Life game being announced in 2025. If you have closely followed Valve leaks in recent years, you'll notice the parallels between the HLX leaks we are getting now, and the accurate leaks that cropped up ahead of Half Life Alyx, Counter-Strike 2 and Deadlock.
