Ubisoft reportedly working on Assassin’s Creed multiplayer titles

Ubisoft has struggled in recent years, with very few high points in its release schedule outside of Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft appears to be responding to this by doubling down on Assassin's Creed.

Assassin's Creed used to be an annual franchise for Ubisoft, but eventually, this became off-putting to fans, who wanted to see Ubisoft taking more time to flesh out its games. This ultimately led to the current era of Assassin's Creed RPG games, with even bigger open worlds and more content than ever before.

Ubisoft is planning the next big shakeup for Assassin's Creed with Infinity, which is described as a ‘hub' game that can be updated with new Assassin's Creed adventures in different time periods and settings. According to Insider Gaming, there is even more on the way beyond this.

Aside from Assassin's Creed Mirage and Infinity, including the two campaigns currently planned for Infinity, Ubisoft has now also greenlit three more Assassin's Creed games, codenamed ‘Nebula', ‘Raid' and ‘Echoes'. Each title is in development at a different studio and will apparently have different playstyles compared to previous games in the series.

Nebula will apparently be set in India, the Aztec Empire and the Mediterranean. Project Raid is something very different, offering a 4-player co-op experience using established characters from the Assassin's Creed universe. Finally, Echoes is also said to be a multiplayer project.

Ubisoft has not officially announced any of this, but the company did confirm four in-development Assassin's Creed projects in September 2022, including Assassin's Creed Mirage, which is due to release this year and will bring back the action-stealth gameplay of earlier games in the series.

Ubisoft is also working on two campaigns for Assassin's Creed Infinity, one of which will be set in Japan, a location that fans have been requesting for many years. Ubisoft also has a VR game in the works, known as Assassin's Creed Nexus, as well as a F2P mobile spin-off game.
