PlayStation Productions has 10 projects in the works, including animation

In recent years we have seen a push by Sony to adapt many of its well-loved video game IPs into different mediums. Under the banner of PlayStation Productions we have seen the successful release of an Uncharted film as well as the HBO show adaptation of The Last of Us. This is seemingly but a taste of what is to come, with the company head confirming that 10 projects are currently in development.

As part of the most recent episode of the Official PlayStation Podcast, Head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash spoke on the projects currently in development at PS Productions. Qizilbash was asked: “Tell me a little bit about what PlayStation Productions is working on coming up in the future. I know there’s a few things that have been announced” to which they responded:

“Yes, so we’ve got 10 projects in various stages of development, which is really exciting – film and television, little bit of animation as well. What’s really exciting to me is the diversity of the stories we’ve got.”

Not including the shows/films which have already been released, we know of at least 7 of the  projects in the works, namely:

Films

  • Gran Turismo
  • Days Gone
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Gravity Rush

Shows

  • Twisted Metal
  • God of War
  • Horizon

Alongside these titles, it is safe to assume that a sequel to Uncharted is also in some stage of development – leaving two projects still unannounced. Perhaps the most exciting detail from the interview was the confirmation that at least some of the projects will be animated. Personally, I hope Qizilbash is referring to Gravity Rush. We will have to wait and see.
