Seasonic Prime Enterprise RX-1600 becomes first PSU to earn 80 Plus Ruby certification at 115V

Seasonic has become the first manufacturer to achieve 80 Plus Ruby certification for an ATX power supply tested at 115V. The milestone was awarded to the company’s Prime Enterprise RX‑1600, a PSU designed for desktops, workstations and AI systems.

Seasonic CEO Walter Sun noted that the brand has a long history with 80 Plus benchmarks, having certified the first 80 Plus PSU in 2005 with the SS‑400HT and later securing the first 80 Plus Gold rating in 2008. The company doesn’t seem to be resting on its laurels either, with Ruby certification at 115V marking another step forward for its engineering team.

Administered by CLEAResult, Ruby is the newest and most demanding tier in the 80 Plus programme. To pass at 115V, a unit must achieve 85% efficiency at 5% load, 91% at 10% load, 93% at 20% load, 95% at 50% load and 91% at 100% load, alongside a power factor of at least 0.95 at 20% load. The inclusion of 5% and 10% low‑load requirements targets idle system behaviour, where most setups spend the majority of their time.

Efficiency gains at this level may appear small on paper, but they require significant development work. For a global brand like Seasonic, even minor improvements can translate into meaningful savings at scale.

KitGuru says: Seasonic continues to lead the pack when it comes to power supplies. What efficiency rating do you typically go for when picking a new PSU for a build?
