Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development, Warner Bros confirms

Hogwarts Legacy went on to become one of the best-selling titles of 2023, so it should come as no surprise that Warner Bros. is keen to get a sequel out the door. In a recent letter to shareholders, WB reaffirmed its commitment to gaming, while also confirming that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development.

In the letter, Warner Bros. says that “games remains an important growth lever as we work toward our long-term Studios segment goals”. While WB lost a lot of money on titles like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and MultiVersus, the publisher has also made a lot from games like Hogwarts Legacy and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, alongside new mobile releases like Game of Thrones: Dragonfire.

At this point, Warner Bros. has four major franchises that it is focusing its gaming efforts on, including LEGO and Harry Potter. WB told investors that it expects games to “more meanigfully contriute to segment profitability” in the years ahead, with the now confirmed “second installment of Hogwarts Legacy” leading the charge.

There is still no word on when Hogwarts Legacy 2 might release, but we do know that key development roles were being hired throughout 2025. At this point, the game should be well into development, so we will hopefully see it revealed within the next couple of years.
