Quantic Dream says Star Wars Eclipse is going ‘as planned’ following employee strike

Quantic Dream has issued a new statement insisting that development on Star Wars Eclipse is continuing “as planned” and denies claims that the project is under-manned.

This follows last week’s strike action, during which Star Wars Eclipse developers walked out in protest over the closure of Spellcasters Chronicles and claimed that Eclipse could not be completed with its current team size. Workers argued that developers from the cancelled project should be reassigned rather than laid off, saying the studio lacked the manpower needed to finish the Star Wars title.

In its statement to IGN, Quantic Dream said the shutdown of Spellcasters Chronicles was driven by “challenging market conditions” and that Star Wars Eclipse remains unaffected. The studio says the game has “the full commitment of its team and all the necessary resources to complete its mission”. Quantic Dream added that its priority is supporting employees impacted by restructuring and declined to comment further.

This directly contradicts the concerns raised by striking staff, who maintain that Star Wars Eclipse requires additional support and that the studio’s current plan leaves the project under‑resourced.

KitGuru Says: It has been around five years since Star Wars Eclipse was announced and the game is still not in any sort of state to show publicly. If that was the plan, then it's a pretty bad one.
