Following years of leaks and rumours, Ubisoft finally officially announced that they are working on a full-blown remake of the fan-favourite Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. While official details regarding the project remain light, some publications were recently given exclusive access to the upcoming title, allowing us to learn a ton more regarding the upcoming Black Flag: Resynced.
Ahead of its official deep-dive (expected to go live sometime this week), Ubisoft granted a number of publications early access to what they are working on, allowing for tons of new details to be unveiled.
As shared by Insider-Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Black Flag Resynced is set to be a pretty comprehensive remake, with some of its features including:
- The ability to have a pet cat or monkey on your ship
- Much-improved underwater exploration
- New story/gameplay content including
- Additional officers
- New crewmates
- Bonus quests
- Extra backstory chapters
- Utilisation of the latest version of the AC (Anvil) engine
Based on the information above, it seems quite clear that Resynced is set to be a proper remake, and not just a remaster. Even so, Henderson made sure to note as much, while also claiming that the game will most likely be fully-priced – though whether that means $60 or $70 remains to be seen.
Regardless, with how long rumours have persisted for this title, it is encouraging at least to see that Ubisoft appears to be giving it their all. Hopefully the many changes coming with this remake prove to be net positives in the eyes of fans.
