While the most recent entry in the Mortal Kombat series may not have set the world of fire, long-time fans of the franchise were treated to a welcome release last year in the form of the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection. Though the collection did feature a number of modern conveniences including online multiplayer and rollback netcode, a new update has arrived with crossplay support, VRR options and more.
Making the official announcement, the team behind the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection – Digital Eclipse – unveiled the latest update, writing: “We're very happy to confirm that today's update for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection includes what has been far and away your most-requested feature. That's right – it's time for Krossplay!”
Supporting both Quick Play and Online Arcade modes, crossplay is now available on all platforms; meaning PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Another major addition comes in the form of 2v2 Kombat Online, in which players can use a team of two fighters against one another. Previously limited to local play, this update allows for full online support across its available games (Ultimate MK3; MK Trilogy and MK4).
Last but not least, the update also introduces support for VRR (variable refresh rate), allowing for a more accurate representation of the game while also reducing input latency.
Unfortunately, this marks the final major update coming to the MK Legacy Kollection, with future patches being limited to bug fixes and minor improvements. That said, with this latest update Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection is in an excellent place and so there isn’t too much more which could be added.
