Amazon linked in ‘confirmed’ $600 million deal with the CIA

An interesting story broke which appears to link Amazon with the CIA. According to Federal Computer Week, a magazine that deals with technology and the federal government it would appear that Amazon have signed a deal with the CIA, agreeing to help the agency develop cloud computing technology over the next 10 years.

The magazine sources confirmed the $600 million deal, however both the CIA and Amazon would not confirm it.

A CIA Spokesperson told The Federal Computer Week magazine “As a general rule, the CIA does not publicly disclose details of our contracts, the identities of our contractors, the contract values, or the scope of work.”

When he isn't rescuing engines from the ocean, he is making deals with the CIA. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Going on what has been reported, Amazon will develop a ‘private cloud' for the CIA. This means the computing technologies for this will be hosted at the CIA's data center, keeping security a priority. The Amazon created cloud will help the CIA keep up with 'emerging technologies'.

The cloud computing sector is very competitive, and this is a big achievement for Amazon, according to the Business Insider who reported several days ago before the deal was signed.
