Logitech launches its first Astro wireless gaming headset

Logitech G has unveiled the fifth iteration of the acclaimed Astro A50 series gaming headset – the Logitech G Astro A50 X. This headset combines the original A50's gamer style with the addition of new features to enhance comfort, quality, connection, communications, and compatibility.

One of the standout features of the Astro A50 X is Playsync. This patented technology allows you to connect to the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC/MAC via the wireless charging station (HDMI 2.1 on consoles, USB-C on PC and MAC), allowing you to switch between platforms with the push of a button. Moreover, PlaySync lets you change what the display shows. For example, when you change from PC to PS5, the display also changes the source. What's even more impressive is that this won't affect features such as 4K 120Hz HDR mode, VRR, and ALLM.

The Astro A50 X also features Logitech's 40mm Pro-G Graphene drivers and has semi-open-back cups, so there is no passive audio cancellation in play. It also supports uncompressed audio feeds and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to listen to music while gaming on your preferred platform. With simultaneous connections, you won't have to worry about syncing back and forth between devices.

For the microphone, the Astro A50 X uses a 48KHz Lightspeed mic. With a battery life rated at 24 hours, the Astro A50 X should get you through many intensive gaming sessions before you need to recharge. And thanks to the wireless charging base, you'll almost certainly never run out of battery power.

The Logitech G Astro A50 X wireless gaming headset + base station is now available for pre-order from Logitech G for $379.99, with a release planned for H1 2024.

KitGuru says: The PlaySync technology this headset uses will make it stand out from the crowd. As far as we know, no other gaming headset brand has something close to what PlaySync does. However, if Logitech can do it, others should catch up eventually.
