Until Dawn Remake studio hit by layoffs ahead of October release

Ballistic Moon, the studio behind the upcoming Until Dawn Remake, has undergone layoffs just weeks ahead of the game's launch.

According to Insider Gaming, multiple developers at the studio have been made redundant this week, including those in programmer and technical design roles. Typically, we would see these more technical positions remain safe after a game release, as studios typically have other projects lined up. With that in mind, these layoffs could indicate that Ballistic Moon's next game has not yet secured funding, or even worse, a new project does not exist.

Still, some of those impacted have had positive things to say about their time working on the Until Dawn Remake, which is due to release for PS5 and PC on the 4th of October.

This will mark the first time that Until Dawn has been available on a non-PlayStation platform. We won't be getting the same story beat for beat though, as Sony has already announced some changes, and new scenes added to the game to further flesh out the stories of each individual character.

KitGuru Says: It seems that only a handful of people have been let go from Ballistic Moon, so this doesn't seem to be anything major like a complete restructuring, but rather a downsizing during the transition period between projects. It is unclear what Ballistic Moon will begin working on next, after the release of Until Dawn Remake next month.
