Black Myth Wukong DLC set for early 2025

Black Myth Wukong has quickly gone on to become one of the highest selling games of the year. With that in mind, it shouldn't be surprising to hear that the studio behind the game, Game Science, is hard at work on new content.

According to industry analyst and GI.biz alumni, Daniel Camilo, DLC for Black Myth Wukong should be coming in early 2025, around the same time as Chinese New Year. That would put a release date anywhere between late January and early February.

So far, the base game has sold around 20 million units, with roughly 70 percent of that number coming from sales in China. By timing the DLC around Chinese New Year, Game Science will capitalise on the time off and renewed national pride. That last part is particularly important, as a number of Chinese businesses supported the game's initial launch by giving employees time off to play it.

Currently, Black Myth Wukong is only available on PC and PS5. An Xbox Series X/S version of the game remains in development.

KitGuru Games: DLSS 5 misses the point

It would be hard to argue that NVIDIA’s DLSS technologies haven’t been a net positive to the PC space, with the machine-learning based upscaler successfully translating lower resolution inputs into a final image which is perceivably sharper while hogging fewer resources. Though somewhat more contentious, the next evolution of DLSS came in the form of Frame Generation, using ML in order to generate additional frames for high-refresh rate gaming. Both techniques can have their issues, but generally speaking they’ve allowed for more people to experience higher-end titles at increased frame rates. DLSS 5, however, takes a sharp pivot, with a very different end goal in mind than the performance-boosting versions that came before.
